Overwhelm the System

We have a guest speaker for this post.  The article below was written by Wayne Allyn Root, the noted Libertarian.  He has a theory that President Obama has a plan to socialize America.  Our regular readers know we are opposed to socialism here at the Rudy Syndrome.  It is counter to our goal of rewarding hard work and discouraging laziness.  See our prior article, Socialism and the Rudy Syndrome, for background.

This post is slightly more partisan then we like to get here at the Rudy Syndrome, but it certainly could start some interesting conversation.  What do you think?  Does Mr Root make valid points?  Or, is he just a dissatisfied naysayer?  Reasonable minds could differ.  But, one thing on which me must all agree: Barack Obama does not have the Rudy Syndrome.  And,  you have to admire that.

OVERWHELM THE SYSTEM
by Wayne Allan Root

Barrack Obama is no fool. He is not incompetent. To the contrary, he is brilliant. He knows exactly what he's doing. He is purposely overwhelming the U.S. economy to create systemic failure, economic crisis and social chaos -- thereby destroying capitalism and our country from within.

Barack Obama is my college classmate (Columbia University , class of '83). As Glenn Beck correctly predicted from day one, Obama is following the plan of Cloward and Piven, two professors at Columbia University . They outlined a plan to socialize America by overwhelming the system with government spending and entitlement demands.

Add up the clues below. Taken individually they're alarming. Taken as a whole, it is a brilliant, Machiavellian game plan to turn the United States into a socialist/Marxist state with a permanent majority that desperately needs government for survival... and can be counted on to always vote for bigger government. Why not? They have no responsibility to pay for it.

Universal Health Care. The health care bill had very little to do with health care. Â It had everything to do with unionizing millions of hospital and health care workers, as well as adding 15,000 to 20,000 new IRS agents (who will join government employee unions). Obama doesn't care that giving free health care to 30 million Americans will add trillions to the national debt. What he does care about is that it cements the dependence of those 30 million voters to Democrats and big government. Who but a socialist revolutionary would pass this reckless spending bill in the middle of a depression?

Cap and Trade. Like health care legislation having nothing to do with health care, cap and trade has nothing to do with global warming. It has everything to do with redistribution of income, government control of the economy and a criminal payoff to Obama's biggest contributors. Those powerful and wealthy unions and contributors (like GE, which owns NBC, MSNBC and CNBC) can then be counted on to support everything Obama wants. They will kickback hundreds of millions of dollars in contributions to Obama and the Democratic Party to keep them in power. The bonus is that all the new taxes on Americans with bigger cars, bigger homes and businesses helps Obama "spread the wealth around."

Make Puerto Rico a State. Why? Who's asking for a 51st state? Who's asking for millions of new welfare recipients and government entitlement addicts in the middle of a depression?  Certainly not American taxpayers. But this has been Obama's plan all along. His goal is to add two new Democrat senators, five Democrat congressman and a million loyal Democratic voters who are dependent on big government.

Legalize 12 million illegal immigrants. Just giving these 12 million potential new citizens free health care alone could overwhelm the system and bankrupt America . But it adds 12 million reliable new Democrat voters who can be counted on to support big government. Add another few trillion dollars in welfare, aid to dependent children, food stamps, free medical, education, tax credits for the poor, and eventually Social Security.

Stimulus and Bailouts. Where did all that money go? It went to Democrat contributors, organizations (ACORN), and unions -- including billions of dollars to save or create jobs of government employees across the country. It went to save GM and Chrysler so that their employees could keep paying union dues. It went to AIG so that Goldman Sachs could be bailed out (after giving Obama almost $1 million in contributions). A staggering $125 billion went to teachers (thereby protecting their union dues). Al l those public employees will vote loyally Democrat to protect their bloated salaries and pensions that are bankrupting America . The country goes broke, future generations face a bleak future, but Obama, the Democrat Party, government, and the unions grow more powerful. The ends justify the means.

Raise taxes on small business owners, high-income earners, and job creators. Put the entire burden on only the top 20 percent of taxpayers, redistribute the income, punish success, and reward those who did nothing to deserve it (except vote for Obama). Reagan wanted to dramatically cut taxes in order to starve the government. Obama wants to dramatically raise taxes to starve his political opposition.

With the acts outlined above, Obama and his regime have created a vast and rapidly expanding constituency of voters dependent on big government; a vast privileged class of public employees who work for big government; and a government dedicated to destroying capitalism and installing themselves as socialist rulers by overwhelming the system.

Add it up and you've got the perfect Marxist scheme -- all devised by my Columbia University college classmate Barack Obama using the Cloward and Piven Plan

I wish that I could disagree with Mr. Root's assessment or call him a partisan hack. But I cannot. I read his commentary several times and wholeheartedly agree with his conclusion that the President is doing his best to turn this great nation towards the failed experiment of socialism.

But what Mr. Root's article left me wondering was "why?" Surely, the President is not a stupid man - a stupid men cannot become President of the United States. (And no one had better write in that W'43 is/was stupid - you may disagree with him on numerous issues, but he is not stupid.)

So, "why?" Why is the President pursuing such dangerous initiatives? Is he truly a Socialist? Is he The Manchurian Candidate? Is he the anti-Christ? Does he hate this country? Is he so pompous as to believe he is more "enlightened" than the rest of us? Perhaps the answer is "yes" to all of the above.

Now many Americans probably do not understand what "socialism" means, and most have probably never seen The Manchurian Candidate. But that should not engender dismay in the hearts of libertarians such as Mr. Root. Because with each passing week of the Obama Presidency more and more Americans are shaking their heads and concluding that "something simply isn't right." Of course, it remains to be seen how far American voters will go to translate their "something simply isn't right" discomfort into a vote against the President and the Democrats come this November.

The "why" question is troubling. The president appears to have good intentions.  Maybe it's just he hasn't lived in a failed socialist society like so many people we know?  At any rate, you make a compelling argument.

While I may agree with many of the points he is trying to make, in my opinion, Mr. Root does not present them in the best fashion. I would have liked to seen more proof. Anyone can speculate that these things are happening, but without sources, citing where the information is coming from, it could be pulled from anywhere.

The Puerto Rico point also stuck out. If I remember correctly, in order to become a state, the citizens of Puerto Rico would be required to vote in favor of that occurring. While it could be speculated that the Obama administration, and the Democrats, would benefit from Puerto Rico becoming a state, it's not something that can just be signed, and -poof- add one more star to the flag.

If one agrees with the points, it will probably just cause those people to nod their heads, but if someone was on the fence about any of the issues, I do not believe that this article would sway them, due to the emotion displayed in the writing. I think if Mr. Root would have presented it in a more factual and neutral fashion, it would better sway individuals who may be sitting in the middle on any of these issues.

This article makes many unsubstantiated claims. For example, that the Health Care bill will add to the deficit. The CBO, which is nonpartisan, says it will cut the deficit. ( source. The discussion of cap and trade makes a pretty serious allegation of corruption without any backup. Sure, GE owns MSNBC, but what does that prove about cap and trade being a "criminal payoff"? Just saying something over and over doesn't make it true.

The Puerto Rico question has already been addressed above. I have discussed the issue of statehood with actual Puerto Ricans, and it is not a slam dunk. There are very compelling arguments for and against statehood on the island.

Legalizing illegal immigrants: Mr. Root seems to think that illegal immigrants come here to live large off the welfare state. In reality, they come here to work. When the economy slows down and jobs disappear, the flow of illegal immigrants slows (as is currently happening, despite the current hoopla about border security.) Legal workers get paid better, which means they pay more taxes (and spend more money.) Legal workers are less vulnerable to exploitation, to violation of wage and OSHA regulations. From a logistical perspective, what does Mr. Root propose to do with 12 million illegal immigrants? Round them all up and deport them? Really? Or maintain the status quo, leaving a large group of people reluctant to report criminal behavior to the police for fear of drawing attention to themselves, easily exploited by unscrupulous employers? How did we get to have 12 million illegal immigrants in this country anyway? They didn't all arrive in the last 18 months- this has been a problem long in the making.

I am appalled at the bailout of Wall Street, but as a Democrat I have to say the allegation that Democrats got all the money gave me a good belly laugh. I wish it were true! The bailout was a repugnant money grab by Goldman, but Goldman Sachs is not a Democratic institution, not by any stretch of the imagination.

Raising taxes. So the Bush tax cuts, which have had a large role in increasing the deficit (remember back when Dick Cheney said "deficits don't matter"?) expire this year. It's nice to try to characterize a tax cut with a set expiration date as a "tax hike", but it's not.

Finally, a note about tone. Some folks who don't like Democrats like to bandy around "the Democrat Party" the "Democrat Congress" and so forth as if "Democrat" were some kind of slur. But it's bad grammar, and whenever I see anyone do it, whatever argument they are making automatically loses some weight. "Democrat" is a noun. The adjective form is "Democratic." I know that calling it the "Democratic Party" deprives one of the satisfaction of calling us a word that ends in "rat", but such is the price to be paid for good grammar.

As a fellow Libertarian, I enjoyed this post. I am in the middle of reading Atlas Shrugged, and many of the points made here seem so relevant to the book.

I believe that is something doesn't change America is headed towards socialism, not just from the points made here, but also in the attitude many Americans seem to have.

It seems these days so many people feel that they are owed something, that they deserve something even when they have done nothing to earn it.

It boggles my mind to see this, I work very hard for what I have and don't see why someone else has done nothing to try and better their lives deserves any of it.

It is amazing that here in America, 60 years ago we put people on trial for being suspected socialists.

Just found the Rudy Syndrome and enjoy it very much!

As a Puerto Rican Patriot who strongly believes in and preaches Puerto Rican National Sovereignty as the best thing for Puerto Rico and the US, I find amusing the Statement that Obama wants Puerto Rico to be the 51st State.

Obama is Democrat and its party has traditionally been identified with and support the present status or its modification, but no Statehood for Puerto Rico. The one party that has always supported Statehood for Puerto Rico is the Republican Party. The Federal District Court and regional FBI offices in Puerto Rico are controlled by pro statehood advocates. They were the ones who persecuted former Governor Anibal Acevedo Vila (2004-2008) accusing and prosecuting him for corruption during the election year in 2008, which obviously caused his political defeat and the victory of the Republican candidate, Luis Fortuño.

After the election the Judge who came from the mainland dismiss most of the charges and in February 2009, the defense rest his case without presenting a single witness. In two hours the jury found Acevedo-Vila innocent of all charges. It became obvious that they were politically motivated fabrications.

Now the newly elected Governor, Luis Fortuño has become the new latino face of the Republican Party, and it is rumored that he will be leaving Puerto Rico, to occupy an important position in the Republican Party. He and his Republican Party are the ones who are pushing Statehood for Puerto Rico.

If they succeed, Puerto Rico will become the Secessionist State per excellence, and believe you me, we will not stop till Puerto Rico becomes a free and sovereign Nation. A nation in the historical/sociological meaning of the word, we have been for about 200 years. A free and sovereign State we will become sooner or later. Federal Statehood, if it ever comes, will just become another obstacle we will overcome.

We know very well the history and inner logic of the US Federal System and we are ready to disassembled it in its entirety, if that is what it takes to gain our national freedom.

Once again the one party that has always supported Statehood for Puerto Rico is the Republican Party. For our common good I hope and pray they will not succeed, for it they do the struggle for Puerto Rican National Sovereignty will reach every corner of the Union and will challenge the very ideological foundations upon which your Founding Father built the Union.

The ideological debate that existed prior to the signing of the Federal Constitution (remember the Federalist vs Anti-Federalist papers) will be transported to the 21st century and will be raised to a new level, by a People different from the American People who will not stop till we gain our National Sovereignty.

Remember that, and please, don't blame Obama for something that has been the trademark of the Republican party for a hundred years.
